The little boy who terrified audiences in The Omen is all grown up. And unfortunately for the rest of humanity, he's turned into Sam Neill.

OMEN III: THE FINAL CONFLICT finds Damien Thorn at 32, fully aware that he's the Antichrist and no longer particularly troubled by the implications. He's rich, powerful, running Thorn Industries and has just been appointed US Ambassador to Great Britain - the same position once held by the adoptive father he helped send to an early grave. But Damien's ascension is threatened by an astronomical event heralding the Second Coming of Christ, prompting him to launch a decidedly unholy search for the newborn child while seven priests armed with the Daggers of Megiddo set out to stop him.

Directed by Graham Baker, the man behind Alien Nation (1988) and the criminally underseen Impulse (1984), OMEN III: THE FINAL CONFLICT takes the series out of haunted-child territory and into something grander and stranger - a full-blown battle between good and evil involving Biblical prophecy, murderous monks, fox hunts, political power, the Second Coming and a Jerry Goldsmith score that just won't quit.

But the film belongs to Neill. Still near the beginning of an extraordinary international career that would eventually encompass Possession, Dead Calm, The Piano, Jurassic Park, In the Mouth of Madness and The Hunt for Red October, he makes Damien sophisticated, seductive, arrogant and genuinely frightening - delivering the Antichrist's increasingly grandiose proclamations with such absolute conviction that you can understand why people might actually follow the bastard.
