Jojo Rabbit

Comedy maestro Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows) returns with another slice of oddball hilarity – and this time it’s about Hitler. If you thought the worst man that ever existed couldn’t be made into a black comedy that packs a huge dose of satire and a side of charm, you were wrong. Johannes, or Jojo (Roam Griffin Davis) is a young boy who just wants to be friends with the Führer – so he invents him as his imaginary friend. Played by Waititi himself, Adolf Hitler and Jojo go on adventures, and Jojo’s worldviews are soon tested when he finds out his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl in their home. Tackling anti-hate satire via the political environment of Nazi Germany and creating a piece of film art is no mean feat, but Waititi manages – and his mix of satire and emotion will take you places you didn’t think you’d go this year.
