Sentient

Veteran Australian journalist Tony Jones’ directorial debut SENTIENT explores the moral, emotional, and clinical complexities around animal testing.

A passionate primatologist, Dr Lisa Jones-Engel, a former animal tester turned animal welfare advocate, shares both archival and contemporary footage of her personal and professional career during, and after, working for the Laboratory for Experimental Medicine and Surgery in Primates. With her reflections, alongside the views from other frontline scientists, Jones investigates the secretive world of laboratory testing to explore the harm done to both the victims of animal trials, as well as the human practitioners.
