Carl Weathers, hot off the success of the Rocky franchise, stars as Jericho "Action" Jackson - a no-nonsense Detroit police sergeant who takes no prisoners when it comes to cleaning up the streets. Framed for a murder he didn't commit, Jackson must clear his name before becoming the killer's next victim.

Conceived of by Weathers while on the set of Predator, this all-out action spectacular pays homage to the 'Blacksploitation' pictures of the 1970s while also seeking to start a franchise in the vein of James Bond. Featuring Sharon Stone, Craig T Nelson, Thomas F Wilson and mononymously-named glamour-girl 'Vanity', the film's minor success never saw a follow-up eventuate. However, ACTION JACKSON's impressive stunts, extreme thrills and some downright strange plot inclusions make it a signature 1980s spectacular more than worthy of cinema-screen revisitation.
