DJ Ahmet
Winner of the 2025 Sundance Audience Award, DJ AHMET is a beautifully touching and comedic coming of age about life, love, and music.
15-year-old Ahmet (Arif Jakup) and his brother Naim (Agush Agushev) are growing up in a remote Macedonian village that’s as conservative as it is superstitious. The boys’ stern father forces Ahmet to work on the family sheep farm instead of letting him go to school, whilst he looks after his little brother Naim. But when the beautiful Aya (Dora Akan Zlatanova) returns from Germany, and Ahmet stumbles upon a secret rave, he becomes transfixed by both the music and her. Despite Aya’s engagement to an arranged marriage, these discoveries promise a path to a more joyous and free life.
Turkish, Macedonian, and some English language, English subtitles.
