BMX Bandits

40th ANNIVERSARY SCREENING! The year was 1983, the Australian film industry was alive with new films from Peter Weir, Gillian Armstrong and George Miller, Australia had won the America's Cup thanks to newly-minted hero Alan Bond, Bob Hawke changed the political landscape and BMX bikes littered the footpaths outside suburban milk bars. Directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith and popping with bright colours and thrilling stunts, BMX BANDITS delighted young Aussies with a high-speed adventure set in our very own backyard!
Teenagers PJ (Angelo D'Angelo) and Goose (James Lugton) get their thrills on BMX bikes, performing hair-raising tricks across Sydney. Along with their new friend Judy (Nicole Kidman!!), they discover a box of illegal walkie-talkies (how quaint!!) and uncover a plot by a criminal gang to monitor police signals during a bank heist. Setting PJ, Goose and Judy on a collision with danger, only their BMX skills can save them!
