SFFF Electric Dreams

ELECTRIC DREAMS (Dir: Steve Barron)
The year is 1984, and the home computer phenomenon is just taking hold. In music-video maestro Steve Barron’s feature film directing debut, an artificially intelligent PC, and his human owner Miles (the late Lenny von Dohlen) find themselves in a romantic rivalry over their beautiful new neighbour, cellist Madeline (Virginia Madsen). Given a pulsating heartbeat by the great Giorgio Moroder’s hit song, Barron and screenwriter Rusty Lemorande bring a sly, sharp subversive edge to this iconic time-capsule charmer. In 1984, how could they have possibly foreseen the intrusive demands that the home computer would make four decades later?
