Little Joe

Nova exclusive! Selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at Cannes, and winning Emily Beecham the Best Actress award, the Jessica Hausner (Lovely Rita) directed LITTLE JOE is an artfully unnerving satire on psychopharmacological drugs.

Alice (Beecham) is a single mother and senior plant breeder at a company that focuses on creating new species. Succeeding in engineering the perfect new plant - a crimson flower that makes its owner happy - Alice takes one home against company policy as a gift for her teenage son, Joe, christening it “Little Joe”. But soon they find that as Little Joe grows, it gets further away from the innocuous plant they once thought it was. Co-starring Ben Wishaw and Kerry Fox, and called “a sinister delight” by critics, LITTLE JOE is a boldly aesthetic and highly unsettling British thriller.
