Ailo's Journey

The Finnish Lapland, nature’s wilderness, and a baby reindeer finding his feet: Guillaume Maidatchevsky’s film AILO’S JOURNEY is a nature doco like no other. Narrated by Donald Sutherland, the Nordic milieu in all its rugged beauty is the backdrop to the journey of one little reindeer making his first migration, the vulnerable calf seeking to survive his first year of existence in a world full of predators and prey. Maidatchevksy’s film took one and a half years to shoot and involves no human actors nor computer animation – be swept up in the real odyssey of one little reindeer, kept alive and warm through his mother’s love and his own survival instincts.
