Selling out multiple sessions at this year’s Documentary Film Festival, DOSED by director Tyler Chandler is a relevant chapter of the current debate centring around healthcare by way of psychedelic substances. Focusing on Adrianne, a suicidal woman at the end of her tether with prescription drugs – and trying to free herself from the world of heroin – she tries psychedelic medicines such as magic mushrooms and iboga for the first time. Somersaulting into an alternative world of healing that she never expected to find herself in, Chandler’s documentary details a different perspective on healing, addiction and mental health, and a way forward that might help those with no more paths.
