Wild At Heart and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The ultimate road trips from the trippiest directors
WILD AT HEART partners David Lynch with his eventual muse Laura Dern, and Nicolas Cage. After serving prison time for a self-defence killing, Sailor Ripley (Cage) reunites with girlfriend Lula Fortune (Dern). Lula's mother, Marietta (Diane Ladd), desperate to keep them apart, hires a hit man to kill Sailor. But he finds a whole new set of troubles when he and Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe), an old buddy who's also out to get Sailor, try to rob a store. When Sailor lands in jail yet again, the young lovers appear further than ever from the shared life they covet.
FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS is Terry Gilliam’s adaptation of writer Hunter S. Thompson’s partially autobiographical novel. Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (Benicio del Toro) drive a red convertible across the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas with a suitcase full of drugs to cover a motorcycle race. As their consumption of drugs increases at an alarming rate, the stoned duo trash their hotel room and fear legal repercussions. Duke begins to drive back to L.A., but after an odd run-in with a cop (Gary Busey), he returns to Sin City and continues his wild drug binge.
