Woman King, The

Viola Davis stars in a Gina Prince-Bythewood directed historical epic THE WOMAN KING. Taking inspiration from historical events, Davis stars as General Nanisca - leader of the all-female group of warriors, the Agojie, who are part of the West African kingdom of Dahomey in the year 1823.
After liberating Dahomean women abducted by the Oyo Empire, King Ghezo (John Boyega) and the Agojie must prepare for all-out war. Training a new generation of warriors, Nanisca meets Nawi (Thuso Mbedu); an independent girl who refuses to be sold by her father to an older husband. Showing herself to be a skilled fighter, Nawi aids Nanisca in preparing for the coming conflict.
